definitely. For me 7 is the best thing that ever happened to my computer. It had been running xp until a worthy OS came out.
Make sure it is 64 bit, otherwise it is losing quite a few things that make it look awesome.

Me, I've heard that people have had trouble gettig the win7 offer for students. Also keep in mind that they're giving you a download not a physical cd so you'll have to burn it. Your choice. I'd do it but just make sure you burn it to a cd so you'll have a backup if your pc crashes

Yep, that's what I did with my copy of Win7. also you'll need a dvd instead of cd since the win7 iso image is 3gb

You don't have to dowload it on a cd and it won't be possible (it will be to big [data],i mean a lot of Gigs) ,just make a backup cd right after the instalation any way a little window will pop up infront of you to invite to do that ,don't do it on cds but on dvds and you 'll need 2 or 3 dvds to do it .

when vista came out, I made something i honor of how bad it was compared to xp. My thoughts changed when 7 came along
USE THE BEST
*Mac for graphics
*Linux for Servers
*Palm for mobility
*Windows for Solitaire
I kinda like it XD

brownman, when you get the "student special" like me wants, they only give you a download of the operating system not a disk so you'd have to burn it.

Agreed. Win 7 for $40 is a win win situation. I would just download the file, burn it to a DVD (I use MagicISO and it works great, make sure you burn at like 24x though, that's with any program you use to burn it to DVD though) and load it later on, after Windows has released the proper updates. Make sure it's not an OEM copy though or you'll essentially only be able to install it once.

Take advantage of this offer while it lasts. Are you in High School? Cause many University/College's have a MSDNAA Alliance for free microsoft software.
Its retail is approx $200 for a full retail version of Win7Pro
