Steam Update

Anyone else have issues with the latest steam update? It did it's normal auto update and now I can't log on, I enter user name and password, it goes like its going to log on and then it just comes right back to the log in screen. after about 4 tries it says can not connect to steam..

i had the same problem a while back... i think it was bc the update didnt install properly... you might have to do it manually... now if i can remember how i did that...

Has Steam been running this whole time while you tried to sign in? If so close it down, go to Task Manager and actually stop the Steam.exe process and try to load it up again.

No, I did that, thought maybe it was hung up in the processes menu.. but it wasn't.. It's done it to me before, but then I just reloaded steam.. that was even a bigger pain in the butt.. had to re-download all my games.. I still haven't down re-downloaded them.. takes to long..

If you have a large harddrive or a bunch of spare cds/dvds you should try Backing up your game files...Steam can backup all you game files to a single install file for easy reinstall...they can be made into 700Mb or 4.7Gb files for cd and dvd.
