Re: been busy makin some music..
Much appreciated people!
more on the way. finally getting somewhat of a template set up in my DAW (digital audio workstation) so tracks should be a lil easier to push out.

The drum kit sounds much better in the last one. Can you get rim shots and ghost notes with it.

Yea i use Live as my overall DAW for sequencing, mixing and mastering. ill even use its native synths and instruments if the sound is right. this last track tho was mainly synth sounds out of massive. the wobble bass tho was created by recording a 4 bar note with the bass synth in massive, recording it to audio and putting the sample in the "simpler" instrument in live wehre i can control filter, frequency, LFO rate etc. in fact, i had to rip all midi clips recorded with the massive synth to audio cause just running once instance of it my cpu meter would creep pretty high.
btw im extremely flattered to hear you say "immaculately clean" seeing as how i just grasped the concept of compression (and even equalization) not too long ago.
as far as hardware, i use an akai mpd 24, novation launchpad and an audio 2 dj interface.

enlighten me, what exactly are ghost notes? i have used filter delays on closed hats that create a panned ghost effect i guess.

Ghost notes are lighter notes usually preceding (but sometimes after) the main note. They are syncopated (off beat) usually in the 32nd or 64th sequential range. They are accomplished by just lightly dropping the drum stick just before the signature note. Old surf music, hip hop and alternative music incorporate them but in a major way (beginning of Rosanna by Toto). I kinda like the ghost note to be more of an accent than a sound and maybe in the 128th range, that is to say "very close" and "subtle" not actually heard but felt. Just adds a little depth to a stronger note.
BTW I really like what your doing, I can see you writing scores for movies and theater. It's easy to listen to and at the same time moderately complex.

Re: been busy makin some music..
thanks earth7man. idk about writing for movies and such though, my main goal is simply to make tracks that move me (or others) and make me wanna move (and make others wanna move). in essence, i wanna create dance music but something different with more than minimal drums and simple lead sounds. i really wanna expand the minds and musical tastes of kids in my town, maybe i can get them to stop listening to rap and crappy rock (not sayin all rap and rock is bad).

Didn't mean to type cast you, just my thought at the moment, I'm sure you know better what gen x wants (or is it gen y now). When you start making money at it the industry (reality) will push you in a particular direction if you want to stick with it. I have built recording studios for a couple of engineers in the area and they all want to record live bands but are stuck doing commercials most of the time because that's what pays the rent.
