    Re: Fourth of July

First off I'd like to apologize to you T3 and anyone else who I may have offended, that was not my goal. No nation has ever been formed without instances like I mentioned in my last post, I was just trying to explain how I would like it if the government would drop the act and stop lying to us all and always trying to dress things up and make it pretty, government being the key word not the nation as a whole. I've travelled all over the world and have met some very interesting characters and I'd have to say that the United States of America has got to be the easiest place to live and about the only place you can pretty much just BE and I love that. This country probably saved my family, were not for liberating Europe from the Nazi's I would most likely not be here so I owe this country my life and the lives of my children and I will forever be grateful, so gratefull actually that I took summer school in HS for 3 summers so I could graduate early at 17 and join the United States Air Force where I served for 2 years as crew chief of an F-22 Raptor until being medically discharged. Once again I appologize to all those I have offended and I promise you there will be no more of that from me. Sinner0420

I completely understand that and I didn't pick up on any anti-American sentiments in your post. I agree 100% with you that the government DOES need to stop trying to make things look pretty and friendly when they're not. July 4th, 1776 was the greatest day in American history. I don't know what you're talking about when you say "celebrating this country's infamy for murdering the indigenous people" because the 4th is about independence from Britain, not about wiping out the Indians. I have fun shooting off fireworks, but every time I see fireworks I think about what it must have been like over 250 years ago when the Declaration was signed. It was HELL out there, and I am extremely grateful for all the people who gave their lives so we could live free.

I'm not against people speaking their minds.. at least to the extent, in these forums, that everyone can do it in a civil manner. But geez, this was a 4th of July thread... I don't think it was the right venue for talking bad about this country. I mean, we have to put up with so much of that around the world that to hear Americans talking bad, just pisses me off. Yes our government isn't perfect, but my gosh, lets not go too far with the conspiracy theories. There is a lot to celebrate about the USA, I think the 4th should be spent focusing on those qualities. BTW, my comments were not directed at any single post. There were a couple at least that got under my skin. :P
