yeah if the GTS 250 and the GTX 470 require the same wattage then you're fine getting the 470. :icon_happy: if you don't have enough PCIe power connectors then the card comes with converters from either SATA or MOLEX to PCIe.

Frost, type "msinfo32" in the search bar at the bottom of the startup menu. The page that pulls up will give the model number for your PC.

I can tell you now that without upgrading your PSU, your probably not going to be able to get any better. Actually, without upgrading it, I'd be cautious with getting the 460 in the first place. The thing that people don't take into consideration is that your not just looking at the max power your PSU puts out, as this is distributed among several different lines or "rails". For example, your CPU uses a 3.3v rail of your PSU to get it's power, whereas your DVD drive, HDD, and GPU use the 12v rail.

What does all this mean? It means that you could be looking at a card calling for a 450W PSU, with a recommended 24 amp 12v rail, where you've got a 460W PSU with a 15 amp rail. In my example, you PSU meets the maximum power recommendation for the card, but the 12v rail doesn't.

I've been trying to figure out how big the 12v rail(s) on your PSU are with no success. You could probably take it out of the case and it will be on a label somewhere on it, but I dunno if you want to do that or not, but if you did and it was on there, that would be a big help.

Here's a good read if you get bored: Power Supplies Explained.

Yeah he's right. ESPECIALLY with power supplies that come in pre-built pc's like the one you have. They're NEVER meant to power anything above what's already in there. I just looked up specs on the EVGA GTS 250 and the EVGA GTX 460 ($200) and the difference is, the GTS 250 recommends a 450-watt PSU, which means the actual requirement is lower. However, the GTX 460 requires a minimum of a 450-watt PSU. My opinion after reading this is you should buy a more powerful PSU before trying to upgrade your gpu.

THIS is the power supply I have. it's 730 watts and it runs fantastic, also has a nice blue LED fan :icon_mrgreen: I want to crossfire in the future, and this is powerful enough to handle 2 Radeon 6870's, so it will handle your GTX 460 just fine. also, it's only $60.
