I'm thinking about going back and re-playing the campaigns from the original starcraft game, as well as Brood War. I simply don't remember the storyline on those at all. Maybe I should brush up on my multiplayer skills as well.

    I already got my preorder.

A population limit is good and wise. It forces players to stragetically decide whether or not any investment is worth it in any amount of it's production. It also gives a hard cap to players so they cannot have super units rush up and have no counter. Thus, A player whose got 3 Battlecruisers and some other expensive units must have a weakness within. The weakness being obviously determined by what is being spent on the most, or what they have of the least that protects their weakness. Thus, The value of each unit is also more carefully decided.

    ^ I think.

Wow, only 4 people plan on buying this game from this forum. I'm a little alarmed at the lack of interest in this game. We may need to reach out into a starcraft group for some players.

that's mostly because over half of the clan members are really only fps gamers. lots of forum members hardly even post, either.

And some people will need to do a major over-haul to be able to play it, which as we saw with BC2, can be too much to ask.

What are some of the respected starcraft groups on bnet? It may be fun to branch out and join in some tournaments. Who do you plan on playing SC2 with, Doug?

For anyone into FPS's, most RTS games are not for them.
Got a whole different feel and learning curve towards them.

I'll be getting it on day of release :)

Does or has anyone played Supreme Commander? I recently bought Supreme Commander 2 and it's quite addictive. I have both SupCom 1 & 2 they're slightly different to eachother in that the units, buildings and construction are simplified in the 2nd one whereas there was more variety and detail in the first..both are great though imo!

And what about Total Annihilation? It's one of my best RTS games ever!

StarCraft was the greatest game of all time that I devoted more time to in my life than anything else; except maybe sleep and eating. I can not wait for SC2.

Time to bring this back to life. Release is next week. I'm definitely going to go pick up a copy the weekend after. Doug, we need to get together. Are you going to be taking a day or two to play through the campaign or jump straight in multi-player?
