Re: This is the computer I'm saving up for.

the first one i can't get the SSD I want with everything else and keep it under $1000, and the second one doesn't come with a pci express 2.0 video card, and only 3gb ram. if I up it to what I want, it goes over $1000. I'll stick with the i5 I found, but thanks for looking that up for me :icon_teeth:

Its cheaper to go to a Tiger Direct outlet store or something to build a custom computer than it is with many online stores. many charge S & H, or dont give you many options for motherboards.

I already built one with parts like this on newegg and it would cost over $200 more to custom build it myself.

For your viewing pleasure Crim. I'm sure you can handle obtaining the OS by other means. A little more than the one you posted, but I'd prefer knowing what goes into my PC and there's some performance boosts here. That Velociraptor will kick most SSD's butts, plus it's 5 times the size of the one you were looking at (you wouldn't be able to get the OS loaded and all your programs with 30 Gb). The GPU will put a sever hurting on the GTS 250. I'm not sure what PSU they put in there but I know this one will perform awesomely and it's modular to boot which means cable maintenance will be a lot easier.

haha yeah I've already got win7 pro 32 and 64 bit from MSDN from my college...serials have expired but I have activators :icon_talk:

that rig comes out to $1,117.41 after rebates, shipping, tax, etc. I really like that setup; I was actually planning on getting a better GPU anyway, since the interface with the comp i'm looking to get is PCIe 2.0 x16. I'll either get that one, or upgrade the PSU and get a GTX 470 or 480 or a radeon hd 5870

I would grab the 5870. From what I've read, once you turn AA on it kicks the 480's butt. Or, since your sort of on a budget, you could grab a 5850 and the just CrossFireX another one in later on down the road.

Re: This is the computer I'm saving up for.

I'll probably modify the setup you gave me to make it under $1000 and build it. And yeah, crossfire down the road will probably happen, although that mobo you showed me doesn't say it supports it, and the pcie slots look too far away for crossfire. The mobo in the ibuypower rig only has 1 pcie slot anyway :icon_sad:

    *EDIT*

nevermind it does support crossfirex. didn't look down far enough ;)

Re: This is the computer I'm saving up for.

alright so with help from ME (many thanks :icon_mrgreen: ) I have come up with this:

    CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115225
    Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188049
    RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231303
    GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130550
    PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139009
    HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136534
    Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147144
    DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151216

    (After Scholarship Money)

    SLI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130550

    Physx: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5551847&csid=ITD&body=MAIN#detailspecs

bumped the processor up to i7 930, found a sexy EVGA mobo that supports triple sli :D, and upgraded the PSU to 850W to be able to handle another GTX 470 when i get it for SLI. total is $1,300 after rebates. that physx card im gonna use is a freaking beast...it's only $25...and ppl play BC2 with it. THAT IS SO WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS. Estimated time of purchase: early-mid August.
