It's a boosted Windows 7 that looks a ton like it with a few extra features, just like OS X Lion. What they're showcasing is the adaptive format that is an option on the OS for use on net books, laptops, and tablet PCs. Don't be too impulsive guys. My hopes for the general UI is that they build in some kind of application like Rainmeter, the super customizable desktop enhancer.

i was thinking the same thing when i seen it. Why would they give desktops a handhel OS. just stupid. i do however reserve the right to change my opinion should they actually take notice and make it better lol.

Looks media center's UI is up to bat for MS now (like they've candidly been playing with) .. thats what it looks like to me with a pinch of 'android' topping it off.

Guess I can only hope that this is only a tablet version. If we're lucky, They'll release a version for regular PC's as well.

here's a vid showing what I'm talking about (SKIP TO 1:59):
    [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGDykEY3Mu4[/utube]
notice when they open MS word, the underlying standard windows shell appears.. in other words, you'll be able to exit out of this new GUI and go back to plain old boring windows if you want... but I doubt anyone would, the new GUI looks great! Finally some desktop innovation from MS!
