I would guess since they are on the official Steam forums and have been there since the 31st, they are safe.

I used the very bottom download link (after opening the link i posted)
I takes you directly to the 1.5GB file download (ie its not divided up into 5 or 10 parts to download)
I tried those, once you download one part file you have to wait an hour to download the next one and so on.
Just finished installing the game now so gonna try it out.

You must have both the original HL2 game and Episode 2.

becasue I ran Version 3 on my server back when I actually had one.

I hear version 4 is a lot better than what I ran, and he (James/Subzero1234) is at a pre-final stage now.
Not sure if this thread is the same stuff, but if someone else is trying to port hl2dm I guarantee it is not as good as James' port.
He has been working with the greater community for a little over a year now; it is too bad that he was 3 years too late to begin with.

There talking about the original single player game not hl2dm I think. I was thinking the same thing for a bit.
I remember I played on that server you had of the beta for a bit. Hopefully everything goes well and he gets done soon.

I replayed the HL2 game and at first you didnt really see any improvements in the graphics but when you get into later levels and outdoor environments you can really notice the advantages of HDR.
Worth playing the game all over.
Now if those Black Mesa Source Developers finish their mod already, I really want to play HL1 in the orange box source engine
